Innovative Land Reclamation is an Alberta Company that assists the resource sector in achieving successful, cost effective site reclamation. We have expertise in ecology as well as the application of ecological concepts, field assessments, and product application and development. IRLP
- ILRP has developed reclamation products that can be used to reestablish plant communities on areas that require remediation.
- ILRP conducts pre- and post-site assessments in order to develop prescriptions for sites that are ecologically sound.
- ILRP supervises all on-site remediation activities in order to make sure that these activities are safe, cost effective and that they achieve the desired results.
- ILRP conducts post-site assessments in order to make sure that the site is responding to the treatments, and that the prescription was effective in reestablishing a plant community on the site.
The approach adopted for reclamation is an ecological approach that draws on our ecological background in terms of forest soils and forest plant communities. By using an ecological approach versus an agronomic approach we can keep costs down and reestablish a functioning plant community that represents that ecosite.
Along with this ecological approach, ILRP has developed specific products that assist in the reestablishment of plant communities. Unlike other reclamation techniques that only reestablish non native grass and herb species, our techniques will reestablish a plant community consisting of native trees, shrubs and herbs.
These native plant communities that we reestablish will be more diverse, and offer a range of other values on those sites.
ILRP reclamation techniques are moving away from a more agronomic approach for site reclamation to one that is more ecologically driven. This new approach respects the fact that a reclamation approach needs to respect forest soil biology and the stability and diversity in forest plant communities.
